4- Mrs. Boss

To reach so high up has always been my dream. From my office on the top floor of the city's tallest skyscraper, I often feel like I'm literally floating. Along the way, I've had to sacrifice most of my personal life, especially my plan to get married and live a conventional life. But I don't miss that, conventional men don't suit me.

I could use my position to abuse a new man every month, but I can't do it with the first one that comes along. Above all, I don't like the arrogant guys who submit only after a hard fight. I would rather rule little lambs, but real ones, not wolves in disguise. They are not easy to find among the candidates for a leadership position, but from time to time one appears. And in those cases I prefer them to propose their submission to me, it's not my job to do the dirty work.

It didn't take more than a week for the boy to make his submissiveness clear. We had a brainstorming session, a written one. It stresses me out when everyone talks at once, and the shy ones have a hard time participating. And he was so shy that he barely opened his mouth to speak. We were in trouble then because of overwork. An urgent solution to improve productivity was my goal in that session.

It's always a waste of time to read the nonsense that some write to fill the file. Sometimes a good idea actually comes out of apparent nonsense, but I'm always surprised at the level of surrealism in these cases. His suggestion was along these lines. However, he may have a point of interest in the field of our organization. Not to mention the special interest he had for me. His idea was the following:

I think the best solution is to have slaves who do all the work without complaining, working overtime and not getting paid... I know it sounds stupid, but it's the first thing that comes to my mind.

The answers were theoretically anonymous, but I marked each sheet I gave them with invisible ink and then linked them to their seats at the meeting table. And even without this trick, I had no doubt that he was behind the proposal. And I told him as much when I called him into my office.

"Come in," I said when he asked permission to enter. "You have beautiful handwriting, haven't they told you?"

He was silent for a moment, but understood immediately. Oh how I like smart subs...

"Thanks. But it didn't have my name on it and all..."

"I have the graphology of all my employees, and your handwriting is unmistakable. But let's get down to business. I liked your suggestion."

"Oh, I thought it was a silly idea."

"This is not such a crazy idea, a certain successful businessman posted the same ad, "looking for slaves". And the truth is that he got a lot of applications because his company was very prestigious and many people were eager to join.
